The present study analyzes some of the main reactions of the Spanish enterpreneurs to the ecological effects of industry. The most relevant aspects of environmental management in large enterprises are identified in the light of the citizen reactions and public pressures. It points the economic and social consequences of this process. It also analyzes the relationship between the public administration and the private companies in this context, through an análisis of the discourse produced by the company executives in order to legitimate their strategies.
