The main purpose of this paper is to justify a governmental intervention to reduce Child Labour based on the principles of the Welfare Economics. The conclusion states that Welfare Economics has important limitations when it comes to justify a larger resource allocation in order to eliminate children and youth participation in labour market. According to this, this paper presents alternative criteria refering to distributive justice with special emphasis on Child Labour, such as Rawls' difference principle, Roemer's equality of oportunity principle and Amartya Sen's functioning- capabilities principle.
