Special Issue RIS 2027

2026-06-08

The Editorial Board of the RIS, in a meeting held on May 8, has selected the proposal presented by Alba Taboada-Villamarín, from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and Diego de Haro Gázquez, from the Center for Andalusian Studies (CENTRA), “Imagining the Internet, investigating the digital: Three decades of virtual, digital methods and computational social sciences” as a monograph for 2027, to be published in the last issue of the year (85-4).

The Editorial Board has highly valued the following aspects of the proposal:

  • Addresses a current, relevant and attractive topic, of great sociological interest and of great practical use.
  • The discussion on generative AI and LLM is especially noteworthy, a rare topic in sociology journals in the Spanish context.
  • Provides a comprehensive map of the field of study that combines historical, critical and applied views, also offering a good balance between epistemological reflection and empirical examples.
  • It has a solid team in the subject they analyze.

In short, the Editorial Board considers that this is a well-planned and justified proposal, and very related to the current context.
