RIS AWARD FOR BEST ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN 2024

The Editorial Board of the Revista Internacional de Sociología (RIS), meeting for this purpose, has decided to award the 2025 RIS Award for Best Article to:

Joan García Román for his article “Convergencia de género en el uso del tiempo en el País Vasco. Un análisis a partir de 25 años de la Encuesta de Presupuestos del Tiempo (1993-2018)” (“Gender convergence in the use of time in the Basque Country. An analysis from 25 years of the Basque Time Use Survey (1993-2018)”) published in volume 82, no. 2.

The Editorial Board has considered the interest and social relevance of the topic addressed, highlighting the relationship between gender and time use and the social change that has taken place in an important issue. Methodological rigor and soundness, the use of a robust source, and the application of appropriate statistical techniques are also valued, clearly distinguishing between structural and behavioural changes.

In the first phase, three finalist articles were selected from those published in the RIS in 2024. These articles were then individually scored by all members of the Council in a second phase. Finally, these individual assessments were discussed and debated, and the award was decided upon with the aforementioned result.
