Mention for the best article published in RIS in 2023
The Editorial Board of Revista Internacional de Sociología (RIS), meeting for this purpose, has decided to award the 2023 RIS BEST ARTICLE PRIZE, ex aequo, to:
Víctor Gago Rivas, for the article “The electoral effect of the Spanish radical left coalition for the 2016 General Elections. A quasi-experimental analysis of survey data”, published in Vol. 81 No. 3
And
Julio Carabaña, for the article “Income inequality and income mobility: the ‘Great Gatsby curve’ in 46 Spanish provinces”, published in Vol. 81 No. 3
The decision was based on criteria of theoretical and methodological soundness, relevance of the results, and theoretical or empirical originality and innovation, in a process with several phases. In a first phase, five finalist articles were selected from among the articles published in the RIS in 2023, which in turn were scored individually by all members of the Editorial Board in a second phase. Finally, these individual evaluations were argued and discussed and the awarding of the prize was decided with the indicated result, highlighting the methodological originality of the first article and the theoretical and methodological soundness of the second.
