Del preescolar a las puertas de la universidad. Un análisis de las trayectorias escolares de los estudiantes inmigrantes en Francia

Resumen


Este trabajo ofrece un análisis sobre las diferencias en los resultados escolares de los estudiantes de origen inmigrante y los franceses desde la educación preescolar hasta la secundaria superior, es decir, el tramo de educación no obligatoria que despeja el acceso a la educación superior. Utilizando diversas variables dependientes —el número de años que el individuo ha asistido a la educación maternal, las notas obtenidas en matemáticas y francés, y la elección de trayectorias escolares vocacionales o académicas—, el artículo demuestra que la desventaja de los inmigrantes ya es visible durante la educación primaria (los inmigrantes repiten más), y que las diferencias entre ambos grupos son muy apreciables en las notas que los estudiantes obtienen en matemáticas y francés durante la secundaria. Este peor rendimiento escolar es por sí mismo capaz de explicar las diferencias que existen en el acceso a la educación no obligatoria. La desventaja educativa de los estudiantes inmigrantes no parece estar relacionada con su origen étnico, sino más bien con su estatus migratorio.
